Half-Wall Wainscoting
Half-wall wainscoting concentrates architectural detail on the lower part of the wall. A continuous cap connects the framed sections and leaves the upper wall available for paint or artwork.

Design & material.
The cap height can relate to a dining room chair, a hallway sightline or the proportions of a bedroom. A contrast between the lower and upper finishes makes the horizontal division more visible. Using one color keeps the effect focused on the trim and shadow lines.
Installation details.
We review window sills, outlets, baseboards and door casings before choosing the cap height. Frame spacing should remain intentional on short returns as well as long walls. Existing trim transitions and any preparation of the wall beneath the frames are included in the scope review.
Is wainscoting always half the wall height?
No. The name describes a lower-wall treatment, not a fixed ratio. We select the height around the room and its existing details.
